
The SUN is the largest and most powerful free energy source. It spits vasts amount of solar energy into the depths of space and some of it reaches our planet earth. Using special photovoltaic cells we can convert some of this energy to electricity usable for our home appliances. Unfortunately current technologies utilize only small percentage of the sun’s electrical potential and that’s only during mid-day when the sun is most powerful. Even with the best solar panels we can achieve maximum of 3-4 hours of peak performance which is not very energy-efficient.

As you can see from the image above, only few hours a day maximum power accumulation can be achieved which is great drawback for the solar power technologies. In addition to that we have major seasonal effect as well as sunny day weather requirement as sun rays are to directly hit the solar panels. In dense clouds we have practically no power accumulation.
